Official Visits

There is no limit on the number of official visits a student-athlete (SA) can take at the Division III and NAIA levels, but SA can only take one visit per school. Student Athletes may begin to take official visits starting January 1st of the prospective student-athlete’s junior year in high school. As an NCAA rule, Division III schools do not allow tryouts. On an official or unofficial visit, SA may participate in workouts that are not organized or observed by the coaching staff. Gallaudet official and unofficial visits need to be documented on the Athletic Department Visits Google Page. Coaches may pay all or some of the following expenses:

  • Transportation to and from the college
  • Room and meals (three per day) while you are visiting the college
  • Reasonable entertainment expenses, including three complimentary admissions to a home athletics contest.

Unofficial Visits

A prospective student-athlete may visit a member institution’s campus at his or her own expense an unlimited number of times. A prospective student-athlete may make unofficial visits before January 1 of his or her junior year in high school.

Open House Guidelines

  • Coaches will be contacted a week in advance with the schedule and potential prospects.
  • It’s mandatory for the coaches/assistant coaches to attend breakfast and lunch scheduled.
  • Coaches will need to keep schedule flexible in the afternoon to meet/give a tour of the field house to potential prospects.
