The Faculty Athletic
Representative (FAR) shall be appointed by the President and,
in the absence of the President, serve as the President’s
official representative at CAC/NCAA meetings. The duties of the FAR
shall include:
- Acting as liaison between the Faculty and the President, and the Athletics Department. This will include working with the IFO and other committees as appropriate.
- Monitoring eligibility of student-athletes. This will include initial eligibility, transfer from two-year and four-year colleges, and continuing eligibility.
- Acting as liaison between both the faculty and the President to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
- Recognizing academic achievement by nominating individuals for CAC/NCAA academic achievement awards.
- Assisting in institutional certification and recertification processes, which will include CAC/NCAA Self-Study activities.
- Participating in compliance reviews.
- Attending appropriate CAC/NCAA compliance seminars and training programs.
- Meeting regularly with the President and Athletic Department administration.
- Assisting with rules education training for coaches and student-athletes.
- Performing other duties related to CAC/NCAA regulations and requirements.
- Attending CAC/NCAA conventions and committee meetings.
- Attending the FARA annual meeting and appropriate committee meetings.
- Coordinate discussions regarding proposed NCAA legislation.
- Serving in CAC/NCAA and Faculty Athletics Representatives Association (FARA) positions.
- Consulting with the Director of Athletics on major appointments in the Athletics Department.
- Participating as appropriate in any investigation of an allegation of NCAA, WCHA, or NCC rules violations.
- Participating as a member of the official travel party for conference competition, and any tournament and post-season competition.
- Monitoring teams’ academic progress and relaying appropriate information to the President.
- Conducting exit interviews with student-athletes participating
in Division I athletics.
