Jon Vaughan begins his sixth year at Gallaudet University as
the Head Athletic Trainer. He is mainly responsible for preventing,
recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result
during practices and games.
Vaughan is originally from South Boston, Va. He graduated in
2004 from James Madison University, receiving a degree in Health
Sciences with concentration in Athletic Training. Vaughan is a
board certified Athletic Trainer and a Corrective Exercise
Specialist approved by National Adademy of Sports
Medicine.
After graduation, Vaughan worked and studied overseas in Prague, Czech Republic. As an Athletic Trainer, he worked with the Prague Lions of the Czech Football League. He helped to assist the team win the 2005 Czech Super Bowl. Vaughan loves to travel to different countries and has made it his life-long goal to visit as many as possible.

During the 2005-06 school year, he worked at Notre Dame
Academy in Middleburg, Va., where he provided Athletic Training
Services for their 19 athletic teams. The following year, he was
welcomed to Gallaudet's Athletics Department where he has overseen
the Athletic Training Services for our 14 NCAA Athletic Teams. He
continued his education at Gallaudet University's College of
Professional Studies in order to develop a fluency in American Sign
Language. In the summer of 2011, Vaughan presented at 62nd National
Athletic Trainers Annual Meeting on the topic: Working with
Deaf and Hard of Athletes.
On a personal note, Vaughan is involved in several non-profit
organizations. He is a board of director for the New Rhythm
Project, which is a non-profit organization focusing on the needs
of orphans and abused children. He is also the Deaf and Medical
Leader for Champions in Action, an organization in Guatemala that
connects disadvantage youth with life-long mentors.
He currently resides in Falls Church, Va., with his wife, Anne Marie, and their daughter, Zera Grace.
