Construction begins on new GU Athletics Hall of Fame display, new Bison Zone sign

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Gallaudet University athletics department is proud to announce two new face-lifts that have begun this week in the Field House. Construction started Thursday on a new GU Athletics Hall of Fame display that will be located to the left of the main entrance to the gym. Plus, a new Bison Zone illuminated three-dimensional sign was installed above the snack bar in the lobby of the Field House.

"We are excited for these new enhancements to the Field House. The GU Hall of Fame was in need of a face-lift. It is going to look first class," said GU Athletic Director Michael Weinstock. "The new Bison Zone name change and sign is very nice and should attract more customers during volleyball and basketball games."

Marketechs, based out of York, Pa., is the design firm that will complete the project. The Hall of Fame display will be done in a three-part phase installment. The first installment will be the base of the new look Hall of Fame and Bison Zone sign, which should be done before Homecoming. The current Gallaudet Hall of Fame inductees will have their plaques on display along with the GU athletics logo and the text 'Gallaudet Athletics Hall of Fame' above the top. The second phase will introduce a touch-screen television that will be interactive for visitors to read about the Bison Hall of Famers. Plus, lettering for the quote "Today's preparation determines tomorrow's achievements" will be added. The final installment will add more rows to the display to add new GU Hall of Fame Inductees in the future. The second and third phases are slated for completion in 2010.
