WASHINGTON – The Indiana University men’s basketball team arrived in the nation’s capital Tuesday and their first stop was Gallaudet University as the Hoosiers practiced at the Field House in preparations for Thursday night’s NCAA Division I tournament game at the Verizon Center.
Gallaudet athletic department staff members greeted the Hoosiers as they exited their bus and entered the Field House. Athletic Director Michael Weinstock and Sports Information Director Sam Atkinson presented IU head coach Tom Crean with a Gallaudet athletics shirt and birthday card signed by the Bison athletics staff. Crean’s birthday was on Monday.
The Hoosiers practiced in the Gallaudet gym, closed to the public, and worked out in the weight room during the afternoon.
IU All-American guard Victor Oladipo, who attended DeMatha, had the chance to reunite with his sister Kendra, a student at Gallaudet University, after practice. Victor introduced his sister to the entire Indiana team before the Hoosiers departed.
Indiana (29-6), the No. 1 seed in the East Region, will meet fourth-seeded Syracuse University (28-9) in the Sweet 16 on Thursday, March 28, at 9:45 p.m. The game will air on CBS.
