Baptist Bible College tops Gallaudet, 13-3
WASHINGTON, D.C.--One inning made a difference in the game today as Baptist Bible College used a seven-run seventh inning to pad their lead and eventually take the game 13-3.
The Bison were in the hole 4-0 by the end of the second inning, but used an offensive spurt for a three-run fifth inning to come back, 4-3. Warren Keller found himself at the plate in a bases loaded situation, a perfect opportunity to stage a comeback. Baptist's pitcher walked Keller, bringing Kevin Alley home for the first score.
Christian Deaton was hit by a pitch, which continued loading the bases and bringing Ryan Lentz home. Then John Moore, Jr. earned a base on balls, and Eric Smithson scored. After a pitching change, Bill Jacobs struck out swinging to end the inning.
The visitors capitalized on errors and went ahead, scoring a total of nine runs to take the game from the Bison.
Ryan Lentz struck out three batters over four innings of pitching, with Warren Keller fanning two and Eric Smithson one. Smithson also went 2-for-2 from the plate.
Gallaudet (0-7, 0-4 CAC) travels to Wesley College on Saturday, March 8 to resume conference play. The first pitch of the doubleheader goes at noon.
