CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) named its players of the week for April 28 and Gallaudet University sophomore Brandon Holsworth (Beal City, Mich.) received Division III South Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week honors. The award is the first ECAC honor for Holsworth this season, the second for the baseball program. This is Holsworth's second honor this week as he was named the NEAC Baseball Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Holsworth threw a complete-game two-hitter against the Penn St.-Harrisburg last Saturday, as he allowed no earned runs and struck out six batters. The win helped secure the NEAC regular-season championship and the right to host this weekend's conference tournament. Holsworth owns a conference best six complete games, and has the second-most wins (five) and strikeouts (47). Gallaudet finished the regular season 11-3 in the NEAC and 20-19 overall.
Gallaudet's William Bissell (Brewer, Maine) was an ECAC Division III South Baseball Co-Player of the Week back on March 26.
Holsworth shares the Division III South Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor with Neumann University senior Matt Spillman, who pitched a complete game (nine innings) and struck out eight batters in a 4-1 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College.
Gallaudet will host Penn St.-Berks on Friday, May 3, at 9 a.m., in the first game of the NEAC tournament.
