GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its student-athlete of the week awards for April 15 and Gallaudet University junior catcher Casey Hicks (Henderson, Nev.) was chosen as the NEAC Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week.
Hicks led the Bison in conference play last week to a 4-0 record. Hicks went 5-for-11 (.455) at the plate with two doubles, two triples, 10 RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base. Hicks had a .562 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Hicks safely reached base at least once and drove in at least one run in all four games. In each doubleheader, Hicks drove in a total of five runs. Hicks also had a double and a triple in each doubleheader and had only one strikeout for the week.
This marks the fifth NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the Bison. Senior shortstop Tommy Barksdale (Brookeville, Md.) and sophomore pitcher Brandon Holsworth (Beal City, Mich.) swept the baseball awards for the week of March 4. Holsworth and junior center fielder William Bissell (Brewer, Maine) swept the baseball awards for the week of March 25.
Gallaudet will host NEAC foe Penn St.-Abington on Saturday, April 20, for two games at Hoy Field with the first game slated for 1 p.m.
