GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its student-athlete of the week awards for April 29 and Gallaudet University sophomore pitcher Brandon Holsworth (Beal City, Mich.) was chosen as the NEAC Baseball Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week.
Holsworth threw a complete-game two-hitter against the Penn St.-Harrisburg last Saturday, as he allowed no earned runs and struck out six batters. The win helped secure the NEAC regular-season championship and the right to host this weekend's conference tournament. Holsworth owns a conference best six complete games, and has the second-most wins (five) and strikeouts (47). Gallaudet finished the regular season 11-3 in the NEAC and 20-19 overall.
This marks the sixth NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the Bison and third for Holsworth. Junior catcher Casey Hicks (Henderson, Nev.) was named NEAC Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week on April 15. Holsworth and junior center fielder William Bissell (Brewer, Maine) swept the baseball awards for the week of March 25. Senior shortstop Tommy Barksdale (Brookeville, Md.) and Holsworth swept the baseball awards for the week of March 4.
Gallaudet will host Penn St.-Berks on Friday, May 3, at 9 a.m., in the first game of the NEAC tournament.
