DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its weekly NCAA Division III National Players of the Week awards for the week ending March 9 and for the second consecutive week Gallaudet University senior catcher Casey Hicks (Henderson, Nev.) was selected as a honorable mention hitter.
Nick Flemister from St. John Fisher was the National Hitter of the Week while Andy Sadoski from Bridgewater State was picked as the National Pitcher of the Week as voted on by a panel of Division III members of NCBWA.
Hicks came a double shy of earning his second cycle (single, double, triple, home run) in a week. Hicks went 3-for-3 in a 21-2 win over Baptist Bible (Pa.) College as he had a three-run triple, three-run inside-the-park home run, a single, sacrifice fly and a walk in five plate appearances. He scored two runs and knocked in seven before being lifted in the fifth inning. For the week, he went 5-for-8, two runs, one triple, one home run, eight RBI, three walks as he batted .625. He has hit safely in the 10 games he has played this season.
