GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conferece (NEAC) has announced its student-athlete of the week awards for Feb. 27 and Gallaudet University senior Ian Evans (Murphy, N.C.) was selected as the NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Evans earned the win in the opening game against University of Valley Forge on Feb. 19 where he threw 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on six hits, walked one and struck out five. The left-handed hurler tossed a complete game against Muhlenberg College on Feb. 26, allowing just one earned run on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts. He is currently 1-1 in 11.2 innings with a 3.09 ERA, 10 strikeouts and four walks this season.
Lancaster Bible College senior shortstop Justin Taylor was named NEAC Baseball Player of the Week after he finished last weekend with three hits, two home runs, two runs scored and seven RBI. Taylor's first home run of the season was a grand slam against John Jay.
This marks the first NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the Bison this season and the second time in Evans' career.
Gallaudet will next host Clarks Summit University on Saturday, March 4, at noon.
