GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its student-athlete of the week awards for March 6 and Gallaudet University senior Blake Phillips (Dalton, Ga.) was selected as the NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Phillips tossed a complete game two-hit shutout against Clarks Summit University last Saturday (March 4) as he helped the Bison snap a four-game skid. He allowed two hits, issued one walk and struck out four in the 4-0 victory for Gallaudet to earn the first shutout of his four-year career. Contributions also came at the plate as Phillips went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI in two games.
For the season, Phillips has made three total appearances, allowed five earned runs and struck out 13 with a 2.81 ERA.
Penn St.-Abington's junior third baseman Matt Meyers was honored as the NEAC Baseball Player of the Week after he collected eight hits and 11 RBI in five games. Meyers recorded his 100th career hit on March 5 against Penn St.-Altoona.
This marks the second NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the Bison this season and Phillips' first honor of his career.
