Justin Wilson earns second ECFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor this season

WHITINGHAM, Vt. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) named its players of the week for October 25 and Gallaudet University kicker/punter Justin Wilson (Carmichael, Calif.) was named Special Teams Player of the Week after he helped the Bison win their second conference game last Saturday with a 40-12 road win over Becker College. This is the fourth ECFC Player of the Week award for Gallaudet this season and the fifth-time Wilson has earned this honor in two years and his second this year (October 4).

Wilson had a busy day last Saturday as Gallaudet beat Becker College 40-12 on the road. Wilson booted a career best 43-yard field goal in the first quarter to help the Bison jump out early on the Hawks. He finished the game with one field goal and completed five extra-point attempts. Wilson kicked off seven different times in the game for 400 yards, as he averaged 57.1 yards per kick, and two touchbacks. Wilson also booted two punts for 85 yards (42.5 yards per punt average) with a long of 48 yards. Wilson did miss a 26-yard field goal in the third quarter.

The other ECFC weekly honors for October 25 were awarded to Husson University senior running back Justin Lindie (Offensive Player of the Week), SUNY Maritime sophomore linebacker Keith Barnes (Defensive Player of the Week) and Husson freshman Ernest Wiggins (Rookie of the Week).

Gallaudet returns home this week and will finish out the regular-season at Hotchkiss Field for two games. GU welcomes ECFC foe Anna Maria College (0-8, 0-5 ECFC) to Kendall Green on Saturday, October 30, at 1:30 p.m. for Homecoming.

NOTES: The GU football practice on Friday afternoon (October 29) will be open to the public and will run from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Coach Goldstein and the team encourages all former Bison alums who played football to come out and watch practice.
