Gallaudet football's last second game-winning play receives two play of the week honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Gallaudet University's last second, game-winning play over Becker College has garnered national media attention and the play earned two more honors this week as D3football.com picked its as the national play of the week while an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) fan poll voted it the best play of the week in the conference.

The Bison (8-0, 5-0 ECFC) remain perfect this season and have won 10 straight games dating back to last year.

Becker College lined up for a 31-yard field goal with two seconds left in regulation and the game tied 34-34. Bison freshman Chris Papacek (Cuero, Texas) came off the right edge, unblocked, and leapt and blocked the kick. The block sent the ball bouncing backwards where GU senior Ryan Bonheyo (Frederick, Md.) scooped up the loose ball, in stride, and ran the 79 yards to the end zone for the touchdown with no time left.

Papacek was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his stellar special team efforts, he also blocked a point after attempt in the first quarter, as the win helped the Bison remain undefeated. The Texas native was also named the Eastern College Athletic Conference and ECFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
