Alleyne named to the 2014 D3 Senior Classic Preseason Super Senior Watchlist

GOSHEN, N.Y. – Gallaudet University football senior linebacker Jaris Alleyne (Waldorf, Md.) earned his third preseason accolade when he was named to the 2014 D3 Senior Classic Preseason Super Senior Watchlist. Alleyne was selected to the South Region second team defense as announced by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL).

The CDFL is the proud sponsor of the sixth annual D3 Senior Classic, a North/South All-Star game, that is held in Salem, Va., which is the site of the NCAA Division III national championship game, in December. Only graduating seniors in 2015 are eligible for this preseason team, which consists of 155 players who picked to one of three teams (1st, 2nd or honorable mention) for the North and South regions.

Alleyne is one of three players from the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) selected. Mount Ida defensive back Jovan Wilkins was named to the North Region second team defense, while SUNY Maritime fullback Kyle Gardner was selected to the North Region second team offense.

Alleyne, a three-time All-ECFC linebacker, ranked fifth in the league for solo tackles (59), eighth in tackles (91) and tackles per game (8.3) during the 2013 campaign. Beyond Sports Network (BSN) recently picked Alleyne as a Top 20 sleeper pick for the 2015 National Football League (NFL) Draft.

Gallaudet will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 6, under the lights at Hotchkiss Field as the Bison host Shenandoah University at 7 p.m.
