WASHINGTON – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced its weekly honors for the week of Oct. 20 and sophomore running back David Jones (Washington, D.C.) was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this month. Jones was previously honored with the same award on Oct. 6.
Jones led the Bison offense in rushing and receiving and threw a 13-yard touchdown pass on a halfback option play with 1:47 left on the clock at Husson University this past Saturday. He carried the ball seven times for a total of 42 yards and caught two passes for 26 yards. Jones also returned two kickoffs for 30 yards.
Al Georgio of Norwich University and Chriss Klass of Maritime (N.Y.) were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Senior running back Georgio rushed 193 yards on 26 carries and senior defensive back Klass had two interceptions, returning one 60-yards for a touchdown. Junior kicker Diogo Dietrick of Maritime (N.Y.) was named Special Teams Player of the Week for his four perfect extra point attempts and two field goals.
Gallaudet has earned four ECFC Player of the Week honors this season led by the two Jones has received. Junior kicker Eric Setzer (Middletown, Md.) was honored as the ECFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 13 and junior fullback BJ Flores (Raymondville, Texas) was named ECFC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6.
The Bison (2-3, 2-1 ECFC) will host Mount Ida College on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. at Hotchkiss Field for the 2014 Homecoming game.
