Four Bison selected to USA College Football preseason All-American teams

ROSELAND, N.J. – Gallaudet University had four football student-athletes named to one of the 2014 Division III Preseason All-American teams as announced by USA College Football.

Senior linebacker Jaris Alleyne (Waldorf, Md.) was picked to the second team defense while three players earned honorable mention honors; junior fullback BJ Flores (Raymondville, Texas) on offense and seniors AJ McCrea (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Tyler Snider (Thornville, Ohio) on defense.

Alleyne makes his second consecutive appearance on the USA College Football Division III Preseason All-American team as he landed on the third team last season. The three-time All-Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) linebacker ranked fifth in the league for solo tackles (59), eighth in tackles (91) and tackles per game (8.3).

Flores had his first 1,000-yard rushing season as he led the ECFC with 1,227 yards on 237 rushes, five touchdowns in 11 games played. The two-time All-ECFC first team offense fullback was second in the conference for yards per game (111.5) and fifth in yards per rush (5.2). Flores also earned 2013 ECAC Division III North All-Star first team honors and Beyond Sports College Network D3 All-America second team accolades.

McCrea was a shutdown defensive back for the Bison as he made 26 tackles, three pass breakups and one interception in 11 games played. The team co-captain was named to the 2013 All-ECFC second team defense.

Snider made the switch to the defensive side of the ball and excelled at the defensive end position last season. Snider finished the season with 46 tackles, 6.5 sacks, recovered two fumbles and returned one fumble for a touchdown. His sack total ranked fourth in the conference while his 47 sack yards was second best in the ECFC. He made his third consecutive All-ECFC team as he was picked to the second team defense after two years on the offensive teams.

USA Football News selected 663 players to fill its three teams and honorable mention list.

The Bison (9-2 overall, 6-1 ECFC) started the 2013 season with a school best, 9-0 record, and won its first ECFC championship and made its NCAA tournament debut.

Gallaudet will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 6, under the lights at Hotchkiss Field as the Bison host Shenandoah University at 7 p.m.
