WASHINGTON - The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced its weekly honors for the week of Oct. 12 and freshman linebacker Louie Akuffo (Bowie, Md.) was awarded Defensive Player of the Week for his career game against Norwich University last week.
Akuffo led the Bison with 14 tackles, 11 of which were solo, in the 27-6 loss to Norwich this past Saturday at Hotchkiss Field. He also recovered a key fumble at the 29-yard line that set up Gallaudet's first quarter touchdown.
Husson College senior running back John Smith was named ECFC Offensive Player of the Week, Castleton University junior kicker Bobby Lineberger was selected as ECFC Special Teams Player of the Week, and Castleton freshman Moe Harris was picked as ECFC Rookie of the Week.
This is Gallaudet's second ECFC Player of the Week award this season and the first for Akuffo.
"It was great to see see Louie making plays all over the field last Saturday. He has shown improvement every week and we are very excited to have him in a Bison uniform for the next four years." – Chuck Goldstein, Gallaudet football head coach
GU (0-4, 0-2 ECFC) will hit the road and travel to Vermont to take on Castleton (3-2, 1-1 ECFC) on Saturday, Oct. 17, at noon.
