WASHINGTON – The 2016 Gallaudet University football schedule has been finalized and officially announced by seventh-year head coach Chuck Goldstein. The schedule features six home games and four road games for the Bison, who posted an 0-9 overall record and was winless in seven Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) games last season.
"I am excited about our 2016 schedule and I know our student-athletes and coaching staff can't wait for that first game in September," said Goldstein. "We are pleased to have six home games at Hotchkiss Field and a 10-game slate, centered around our conference schedule. We will be tested in our non-conference games and that will help us prepare for the ECFC games starting in October. We hope to see a lot of buff and blue fans in the stands this season!"
Gallaudet will open its season at home on Saturday, Sept. 3, with a 7 p.m. night game at Hotchkiss Field against Shenandoah University. This will mark the fourth consecutive year the two schools have opened the season against each other. The Hornets won 51-6 last season at home, tying the all-time series record between the two schools at five wins apiece. Earlham College comes into town to play Gallaudet at 1 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the first meeting between the two programs. GU will hit the road to wrap-up the month of September with a road game against Greensboro College in North Carolina on Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.
GU will rest a week before opening its conference slate at home against Becker College, coming off its best season in program history, on Oct. 1 at noon. The remainder of the schedule will see Gallaudet alternate between away and home games, starting with a road game against Husson University. The Bison welcome Mount Ida College to Hotchkiss Field on Oct. 15 for a noon kickoff before facing defending ECFC champion Norwich University on the road Oct. 22.
Gallaudet will host its annual Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 29, against Castleton University with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
The month of November opens with GU in Paxton, Mass., for its last road game of the regular-season against Anna Maria College on Nov. 5 at noon. The Bison return home to wrap-up the regular-season schedule with Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 12, at noon against ECFC rival SUNY Maritime. This will mark the eighth consecutive year these two programs have ended the regular season playing each other.
