VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Gallaudet University senior defensive back Carneilus Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) will have one final chance to showcase his skills in his hometown on Monday, Jan. 16, as he participates in Dream Bowl V hosted by Cutting Edge Sports Management. The Dream Bowl features talented players from across the country who represent the Football Championship Series, Division II and Division III.
"I'm glad I have been given another opportunity to play the game of football, again, thanks to being invited to the Dream Bowl. I am excited to showcase my talents that the Gallaudet University football program helped to teach me and develop me over the years," said Smith.
Smith started all 10 games during the 2016 season where he was second on the team with 65 tackles (40 solo), four interceptions for 257 yards and three touchdowns, six passes defended, two pass breakups, four tackles for a loss of eight yards. Smith is a three-time all-conference honoree after being named to the All-Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) first-team defense the past two seasons.
The Dream Bowl serves as a collegiate send-off game giving seniors a real bowl game experience, treating them to first-class accommodations, meals and facilities, along with a full weekend of football and social related activities for their friends and families. Invited players will get the chance to perform in front of National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) scouts.
