THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University football season came to a close here on a cold Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field as the Bison fell 54-14 to SUNY Maritime in an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) road game.

Gallaudet (3-7, 3-4 ECFC) got off on the wrong foot as the Bison offense had trouble sustaining drives as they punted five times and turned the ball over four times in the opening half.

On the flip side, Maritime (9-1, 6-1 ECFC) scored points on its first seven possessions and took a 40-0 lead into halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Gallaudet got on the scoreboard with a pair of Darrion Green (DeSoto, Texas) rushing touchdowns (14 and 19 yards) in the final quarter of the 2017 season.

Maritime countered with a pair of touchdowns of its own as they won by 40 points before a crowd of 1,270.

Green led all Bison rushers with 81 yards on 10 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Jake Bonheyo (Frederick, Md.) completed 7 of 20 passes for 125 yards. Junior wide receiver L.J. Watson (Fayetteville, N.C.) led the Bison with four catches for 89 yards.

The Privateers finish the season in second place in the ECFC standings.
