Goldstein became Gallaudet University's 36th head football coach in the program's 116-year history on December 17, 2009. The 2010 season was his first season as the head coach and the second with the program.

The Bison posted a 5-5 record in 2010 under Goldstein as the Buff and Blue went 3-2 to start the season and finished 3-4 in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference, fifth overall. All five of Gallaudet's losses were determined by eight or less points. GU placed 10 players on the all-conference team while defensive back Tony Tatum was named the ECFC Rookie of the Year. Gallaudet also had five players selected to the ECFC All-Academic team.

The 2009 season was Goldstein's first season with the Bison as Gallaudet finished second in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference and posted a 6-4 record. The winning mark against a complete varsity schedule is the first since 1930. Goldstein helped to implement a new offensive scheme this season as GU ran the triple-option attack. Gallaudet finished the year ranked No. 9 in the nation in rushing as the Buff and Blue averaged 290.8 yards per game among NCAA Division III schools.

Goldstein arrived at Gallaudet from North Point High School in Waldorf, Md., where he was the Physical Education Department Chair for four years. At North Point, he was the strength and conditioning coach, weight training teacher and offensive coordinator for the football team. Goldstein designed a weight training curriculum for the Charles County Board of Education. He also served two different stints as an assistant college football coach at Salisbury University (2002-04) and Averett University (2001).

The Germantown, Md., native is a proud graduate from Salisbury University (Class of 2001) where he majored in exercise science and physical education. While at Salisbury, Goldstein started two years at linebacker for the Sea Gulls. Goldstein transferred to SU from Frostburg State University where he played two seasons.

Goldstein and his wife Stephanie have two sons (Hunter, Liam) and reside in Prince Frederick, Md.



John Davis

Davis enters his fourth season with the Gallaudet University football program in 2011 and his second as Assistant Head Football Coach/Defensive Coordinator. On June 24, 2011, Davis was also promoted to Admissions Liaison for the Athletics Department.

Davis completed his second season as Gallaudet’s assistant head football coach/defensive coordinator this past year. In 2009, his first as the defensive coordinator, the Bison finished the season ranked No. 6 in the nation for total defense as the Bison only allowed 245.30 yards per game. Gallaudet's pass defense was ranked No. 4 among NCAA Division III teams as the Buff and Blue limited opponents to 109.10 yards per game. The Gallaudet defense was also nationally ranked for pass efficiency defense (No. 29) and scoring defense (No. 30). On December 17, 2009, Davis was promoted to Assistant Head Football Coach.

Davis served as Gallaudet's secondary coach in 2008. The Lynchburg, Va., native is a proud graduate from Liberty University where he lettered in football. The scholarship player completed three seasons with the Flames. Davis played high school football at E.C. Glass High School under the tutelage of Coach Wayne Lance, who currently coaches at Atlantic Shores High School in Virginia Beach, Va. At E.C. Glass, Davis was named a prep-star All-American and earned All-Region and All-District honors as a defensive back.

Davis and his wife Octavia have three children Alana, Myles and Gavin who currently reside in Virginia.

Healey officially joined the Gallaudet University athletics department on May 25, 2011, as its strength and conditioning coordinator for all varsity teams and the assistant head coach for football.

Healey comes to Gallaudet from Bridgewater (Va.) University, a Division III program and member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). He spent eight years at Bridgewater where he served as Assistant Head Coach for the last three seasons. This past season he also coached the Eagles’ linebackers and special teams as Bridgewater tallied an 8-2 record. In his span with Bridgewater the Eagles compiled a 65-23 record and won three ODAC titles. While with the Bridgewater football program he also helped oversee the academic success of their student-athletes.

In addition to his football duties at Bridgewater, Healey also worked with the track and field programs for several years where he concentrated on jumps and coached two All-Americans. He was in-charge of constructing and implanting the strength and conditioning program for the 16 varsity sports at Bridgewater. He created the strategic planning of the weight room, oversaw the procurement and maintenance of equipment and training facilities and started the strength and conditioning internship program.

Healey is a highly certified strength and conditioning specialist as he holds certification from several national associations including the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), USA Weightlifting, British Weight Lifting and the English Basketball Association. His practices on conditioning have also been nationally published most recently in the 2008 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Summer Manual.

“What I like about strength and conditioning and the weight room is that you can measure success. The numbers won’t lie. We can teach the hard lesson that hard work equals success,” said Healey. “I look forward to meeting all Gallaudet head coaches and seeing where their sport and student-athletes stand when it comes to physical fitness. Every sport, individual and coach will be unique and their needs will be unique so my responsibility is to help everyone improve.”

The London, England native, graduated from the University of Greenwich in London with a dual degree in Human Movement Studies and Education in 1998. He earned honors with his Bachelors in Education. In his collegiate time he spent one year (1995-96) at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a NCAA Division II program. He played defensive end for the 1995 IUP football team that went 8-3 and posted a 5-1 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Division.

Healey served as the head football coach at the University of Aberystwyth in Wales from 2002-03. He managed the coaching staff, served as the offensive coordinator as he helped foster the development of American Football at the University and in the Wales region.



Ron Cheek
Title: Defensive Backs Coach

Coach Cheek begins his third season on the sidelines for the Bison where he will coach the defensive backs. Coach Cheek brings an agressive attitude to the scondary where the Bison acccounted for nine interceptions in 2007.

Prior to coming to Gallaudet, Cheek spent time as a coach and mentor to 13-15 year olds in the city's Recreation League Football.

Coach Cheek resides in Washington, D.C.



John Elie
Title: Defensive Line Coach

Coach John Elie enters his fourth season as Bison Defensive Line Coach. Coach Elie brings over 10 years of coaching experience to the Gallaudet staff.

Prior to coming to Gallaudet, Coach Elie has coached numerous positions, most recently serving as the defensive line coach for seven years at James H. Blake High School in Silver Spring, Md. Coach Elie was the Defensive Coordinator for the D.C. Generals Police and Firefighters team prior to joing the Bison where he has served for four years.

Coach Elie is a highly decorated firefighter/paramedic in Prince Georges County, Md., where he has served for the past 29 years and is a Captain.

Coach Elie and his wife have three children, Chris, Kyle; who attends Towson University and will graduate in Spring with an English degree in hopes of teaching English one day, and Hannah, who reside in Burtonsville, Md.



Christian Burke
Title: Linebackers Coach

Coach Burke is entering his fifth season as linebackers coach, and his fourth as assistant head coach. Coach Burke is heavily involved in game day operations, and brings intensity and familiarity to the Gallaudet staff. Burke has been a vital piece of the resurrection of the football program, and has been a main stay on the Bison sidelines. Coach Burke has coached the  team leader  in tackles  all four years he has been on staff. In 2007 his linebacking corps was responsible for 16.5 sacks and 43 tackles for a loss.

Prior to joining the Gallaudet staff, from 2000-2004, Coach Burke was an Assistant Coach at Model Secondary School for the Deaf where he coached linebackers.

Coach Burke played linebacker for the Bison from 1995-2000.

Coach Burke completed a double-major in Computer Information Systems and Communication Arts at Gallaudet in 2000.

Coach Burke currently resides in Greenbelt, Md.



Bob Miller

Chris Bahl
Title: Football Operations

Bahl begins his third season with the Gallaudet University football program. He started as the American Sign Language interpreter for Coach Chuck Goldstein when he was the offensive coordinator in 2009. Bahl currently is the man behind the scenes working with all aspects of the program as he runs the football operations side for the Bison.

The Faribault, Minn., native has also served as a team interpreter for the Gallaudet women’s basketball program from 2009-11. In his spare time he works as an ASL interpreter in the Washington, D.C., metro area. He has strong ties to the Deaf Community as both of his parents are deaf and his sister is also an ASL interpreter. Bahl currently resides in Washington, D.C.
