Gallaudet Athletics unveils a new look
The much-anticipated date is finally here! Gallaudet Athletics
is proud to announce its
completely revamped website, made possible by a sponsorship from
Viable, Inc., owned
by John Yeh, an alumnus and supporter of the University.
The new website will carry the URL of www.gallaudetathletics.com,
available worldwide
as of noon on August 10, 2007. The site includes new features for
Bison fans, including
the latest Gallaudet sports statistics available at a click of the
mouse, rotating games
photos, live statistics features, and video streaming
capabilities. Most important of all, the
site was designed with the deaf viewer in mind, full of colorful
photos tagged with game
updates and the latest news regarding Gallaudet Athletics.
Visitors can also look forward to interactive features, allowing
fans to weigh in on polls
and provide feedback on the new design. “This is all part of
including the people who
support Gallaudet Athletics and its student-athletes,” said
Sports Information Director
Oscar Ocuto.
The roster function of www.gallaudetathletics.com includes
individual headshots of each
player, his or her current class status and hometown, and, for the
first time ever, a
compilation of the players’ individual statistics, available
at the end of each season.
This will make it possible for viewers to follow a particular
athlete's career through their
years as a Bison.
Gallaudet Athletics chose Presto Sports as its design firm
because of its expertise in
promoting athletics. The firm is comprised of former sports
information directors who
understand and support the web design, marketing, and information
technology needs
involved in streamlining top-notch athletics programs and their
services.
Gallaudet’s Office of Sports Information would like to
extend its gratitude to key
individuals who made the previous website,
athletics.gallaudet.edu, a possibility, and
worked tirelessly to assist in a temporary re-design of the site.
The Office of Public
Relations shared their webmaster, Ralph Fernandez, and former
Coordinator of
Electronic Communications Bobby Cox, both providing invaluable
service to Gallaudet
Athletics. Hatim Vali, Data Center engineer in Information
Technology Services, was
also an indispensable resource, always willing to help at a
moment’s notice.
“Gallaudet Athletics thanks all of the contributors within
the University community who
have worked to ensure that its student-athletes continue to
receive the recognition they so
richly deserve,” Ocuto said. “We look forward to
continued collaboration to bring the
University to the forefront of academics and athletics!”
