Hotchkiss Field Gets New Scoreboard

Hotchkiss Field has a new scoreboard thanks to the generous contributions of many alumni and friends of the athletics program whose donations made the new scoreboard possible. The scoreboard was installed this week and is twice as big as the old scoreboard, which was over 20 years old.

The new scoreboard has been placed closer to the football field and the stands, which will make it easier for fans and players to see the score and time remaining. The new scoreboard will show time, score, downs, yards to go, and will also show how many time-outs each team has remaining.

The scoreboard will also be used by the men's and women's soccer teams when they play their games at Hotchkiss Field.  The men's soccer team will be the first team to use the scoreboard when they play Southern Virginia College this afternoon at 4 pm. The football team will use the scoreboard for the first time during the Homecoming game October 18 at 2 pm when they also play Southern Virginia College.

On the scoreboard there are four black poles located above the name Gallaudet.  That space will be used for a TV scoreboard, which has not been purchased yet.  The Gallaudet name will be moved to the top of the black poles. The TV will then be installed between the Gallaudet name and the scoreboard. The TV will cost $40,000 and will be paid for entirely with private donations.  To contribute to the TV scoreboard, donations may be made to The Bison Athletics Enhancement Fund.
