WASHINGTON, D.C. - In wake of the natural disaster that has hit the country of Haiti, the Gallaudet University Athletics Department will donate all proceeds from Wednesday's basketball doubleheader with Wesley College to relief efforts. The GU Athletics Department ask all those planning to attend the doubleheader to please make a generous donation at the front table upon entering the Field House.
In addition to the fund raising for Haiti, tomorrow's doubleheader also offers fans a chance to get a free t-shirt! The first 200 fans will receive a Blue Hole t-shirt.
This is second Haiti donation event the GU Athletics Department has participated in. Last Wednesday, Gallaudet held a moment of silence before the start of the men's basketball game with Hood College and also collected funds at the front table.
If you are unable to attend the basketball doubleheader and would still like to make a donation to Haiti please visit the American Red Cross Web site here - www.redcross.org to make a donation online. You can also make a donation through your cell phone. Customers of participating wireless carriers can text message "HAITI" to 90999 and make a $10 donation to support the American Red Cross Haiti relief efforts. Donations will appear on customers' monthly bills or be debited from a prepaid account balance. Message and data rates may apply.
