WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team lost 74-65to John Jay College here Saturday night in the first round of the Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament hosted by Lycoming College. Lycoming defeated Cairn 103-27 in the other first round game at Lamade Gym.
The Bison (4-7) were paced by senior guard Layton Seeber (Champaign, Ill.), who recorded 20 points and seven assists as he made 7-of-21 shots from the field, which included 6-of-15 from three-point range. Senior guard Jocus Houston (Baton Rouge, La.) poured in 14 points as he added five steals, four rebounds and three assists. Junior forward Orion Palmer (Riverside, Calif.) scored eight points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds in the loss.
The Bloodhounds (6-2) had four players in double figures led by forward Jamar Harry's 21 points and eight rebounds. John Jay led 40-35 at halftime.
Gallaudet will face Cairn University in the consolation game tomorrow (Sunday, Dec. 30) at 1 p.m. John Jay will go up against Lycoming in the 3 p.m. championship game.
