Bison cruise by Maryland Bible on first day of GU Holiday Tournament

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team rolled to its fourth consecutive win as the Bison defeated Maryland Bible College, 66-48, Friday on the first day of GU Holiday Tournament at the Field House.

Gallaudet (4-1) advances to Saturday's championship game at 4 p.m. where it will face Alfred University (5-1), who defeated University of Valley Forge in the other game, 66-59. Valley Forge (4-3) will face Maryland Bible (1-3) in tomorrow's consolation game at 2 p.m.

The Bison dominated the first half against the Soldiers as they built a 37-17 lead after the first 20 minutes of play. Junior forward Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.) scored 14 of his game-high 18 points in the first half. Gordon made 7 of 12 shots from the field, including 4 of 6 shots from three-point range, grabbed five rebounds and made four steals.

Freshman Andy Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.) netted 10 points off the bench and brought down nine rebounds for the Bison. Senior Anton Jackson (Detroit, Mich.) along with sophomores Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) and Raymond Nelson (Riverside, Calif.) scored eight points each.

The Soldiers outscored the Bison 31-29 in the second half as Tavon Bryant's 11 points and three rebounds led them offensively.
