GU's Trey Gordon named NEAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for a second time this season

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Feb. 22 and Gallaudet University senior Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.) was selected as the Men's Basketball Player of the Week. This is Gordon's second NEAC Player of the Week honor this season and the third of his career.

Playing a marathon four conference games in seven days, the guard/forward led the Bison to a 3-1 record as he averaged 21.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while sinking 13 3-pointers and shooting 54 percent from the field overall.

Gordon opened the week on fire, going 12 of 13 from the field for a game-high 30 points to go with six rebounds in a 98-66 win over Bryn Athyn College last Tuesday. His only miss on the night was a 3-pointer, where he finished 6 of 7 from long range. He also led all players with 25 points to go alongside a team-best six boards and three assists in a thrilling 76-73 victory over Cazenovia on Senior Day, where he netted five of the Bison's final seven points to seal the win.

He combined for 31 more points in the week's other two contests, including 15 points with five rebounds and four assists in an 82-59 win over Penn St.-Berks, along with 16 points, seven boards and a team-high three steals in a 76-64 setback to undefeated No. 15 Lancaster Bible College last Thursday in which the Bison led at halftime against the nationally ranked Chargers.

Gordon has now sunk the second-most 3-pointers in the NEAC (78) while also shooting at the fifth-best clip from beyond the arc at 43.5 percent as the Bison closed out the regular season with a 14-4 record in NEAC play.
