Bison dominated by Guilford to begin season

GREENSBORO, N.C. - It was a tough season opener for the Gallaudet University men's soccer team as the Bison lost 10-1 to Guilford College on Friday night in the Guilford College Classic before a crowd of 225.
The Quakers (1-1) set three school records for goals, assists and points as GC scored the game's first seven goals before the Bison broke through. In the 59th minute, Gallaudet junior forward Zane Noschese scored off an assist from freshman forward Richard Spiecker.
Guilford scored the final three goals to close out the nine-goal victory. The Quakers were led by midfielder Freddy Gomez's three goals and one assist performance.
The Bison were held to three shots, all in the second half, as Guilford dominated shots with a 46-3 advantage. GC also took 17 corner kicks to GU's one.
Sophomore goalie Poloko Qobose (0-1) suffered the loss in net for the Buff and Blue as he made a game-high eight saves.
Gallaudet will next face Methodist College tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 p.m. on the final day of the Guilford College Classic. Methodist lost 3-1 to Milligan University in the first game on Friday evening.
