Bison earn first-ever NEAC Men's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week award with Karlis Intsons' honor
GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) released its conference awards for the week of October 24, and Gallaudet University men's soccer player Karlis Intsons (Riga, Latvia) was honored as the NEAC Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his historical performance. This is the first-ever NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week award for Gallaudet men's soccer since they joined the conference last year.
The freshman midfielder scored a goal during a 4-2 victory over Bryn Athyn this past Wednesday that helped the Bison end a 21-game losing streak. He then went on to score a goal and assisted on the game-winning goal by Jean-Pierre Kanashiro (Springfield, Va.) in a 2-1 victory over NEAC rival Penn St.-Berks on Friday. Intsons has now scored a goal in four straight games, one of the longest streaks in program history.
Intsons helped the Bison make history last week. After going 14 years without winning a conference home game or back-to-back contests, GU finally broke both of those streaks behind the offense of Intsons.
