MARCY, N.Y. – It was a tough day for the Gallaudet University men's soccer team on the road Sunday as they lost 7-0 against SUNYIT in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game. The host Wildcats scored three goals in the first half and added four more in the final 45 minutes of play to complete the shutout.
SUNYIT (6-4, 3-2 NEAC) had three players score two goals each including Cameron Adams, Leighton Francis and Diego Montaleza. Mario Gomez scored the game's first goal two minutes in as the Wildcats never looked back.
Gallaudet (2-8, 0-5 NEAC) only had two shots in the games from senior forwards James Rummo (Butler, N.J.) and Wilson Velez (Marlborough, Mass.). Sophomore goalie Eric Setzer (Middletown, Md.) made 13 saves, as the talented Wildcats overwhelmed the Bison defense. GU has lost eight straight after it won two games to start the season. The Bison have been shutout four times during the losing streak.
GU is off for two weeks and will next host Morrisville St. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. in a conference game.
