Coach Bill Snape takes home 2007-08 CAC Men's Swim Coach of the Year Award
St. MARY'S CITY, Md.--Head Coach Bill Snape added to the Aqua Bison's record-breaking season. Over the 2007-08 slate, a total of nine team records were broken on the men's side, a distinction that comes from training under a coach that believes, supports and contributes wholly to the team.
In the words of Interim Athletic Director Mike Weinstock, "Bill raised the bar--his expectations exceeded the swimmers--they had to raise their own standards to meet the coach. He's a devoted coach in and out of the pool; Gallaudet is fortunate to have a coach of his caliber working with our Aqua-Bison."
Capital Athletic Conference Commissioner Tom Byrnes commented: "Bill Snape has the respect of his fellow CAC swim coaches because his student-athletes give their best efforts in every opportunity. What more could you ask from a mentor and leader of young men and women? Being honored by his peers is a fitting tribute for Coach Snape and his team's effort."
The Coach of the Year is a result of peer nominations. Each respective sport's coach within the conference is chosen by their peers via secret balloting.
The Gallaudet Athletic Department extends its congratulations and continued support to Coach Snape and looks forward to an exciting 2008-09 season!
