DJ Everton-Lovell named NEAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards and Gallaudet University freshman DJ Everton-Lovell (Norfolk, Va.) was named the men’s swimming and diving recipient for the week of November 15. GU swept the two NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week awards as senior Misella Tomita (Kahului, Hawaii) was honored on the women’s side. The Bison made a strong statement in their NEAC debut last Saturday as they both came away with wins over SUNYIT.

Everton-Lovell along with junior Brian Bennett (Colorado Springs, Colo.) won three individual events apiece as the Bison beat the Wildcats 126-83. The freshman won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:18.53 and came in first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.33) and the 200 backstroke (2:11.09).

This marks the third NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week award for the GU men’s and women’s swimming program as the Bison begin their first season in the conference after being members of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) for 20 years. Bennett earned NEAC honors back on November 1. Gallaudet now has eight NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week awards for the year.

Gallaudet is off for three weeks and will next swim in York, Pa., on Friday, December 3, against Penn St.-Altoona and the host York (Pa.) College Spartans, former CAC rivals, in a double dual meet that will begin at 6 p.m.
