Gallaudet men's volleyball wins first match since the sport was added back to the fold
AURORA, N.Y. – The losing streak is over for the Gallaudet University men's volleyball team as the Bison won their first match since the program was added back to the fold by the athletics department two years ago. This is the first year the Bison are a full fledge varsity sport after being a club team in 2012.
Gallaudet (1-11, 1-2 North Eastern Athletic Conference) defeated conference foe Cazenovia College, 25-22, 25-17, 12-25, 25-15, on Saturday in the Farenthold Athletic Wing on the campus of Wells College.
In the first match of the day the Bison lost to the host Express, 18-25, 20-25, 25-14, 17-25. Gallaudet won its first set of the season when the Bison took the third set 25-14 over Wells. The Bison had lost 32 straight sets this year prior to that set win.
Freshman Andrew Biskupiak (Frederick, Md.) and sophomore Ryan Poindexter (Austin, Texas) led the Bison against the Express with six kills and 10 and 14 digs, respectively. Freshman libero James Wilson (Tucson, Ariz.) added nine digs. Senior Cody Pedersen (Newark, Calif.) added five kills on 11 attempts with four errors.
The Bison return to Washington and will host their final home matches of the season on Saturday, March 9, in the Field House against Penn St.-Altoona, Siena Heights and CCNY.
