GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Sept. 22 and freshman Otto Kingstedt (Stockholm, Sweden) was chosen as the NEAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for a second time this season, after another record-setting performance last Saturday.
The freshman shattered the course record during the Penn St.-Abington Invitational last Saturday, as he completed the 8K run in 27 minutes, 28.6 seconds to easily top the old mark of 29:03 that was set in 2012. Kingstedt also topped the rest of the 52-runner field on the hilly course by over two minutes after recording a 5:32-per-mile pace. His performance helped the Bison place second overall out of seven teams.
This is the second time in Gallaudet history that a runner has earned a NEAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor.
The Bison will travel to Lancaster, Pa., on Thursday, Sept. 24 to run at the Lancaster Bible Invitational at 4 p.m.
