STEVENSON, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team began its 2016 campaign here on a hot and humid Saturday at the Shannon Henretty Invitational hosted by Stevenson University. The Bison placed eighth out of eight teams with 183 team points.
The host Mustangs won the team meet with 20 points as they took five of the top seven spots in the final standings. Stevenson sophomore Langston Gash won the 8K race with a time of 28 minutes, 51.54 seconds to beat out 70 other runners.
Junior Joshua Branscomb (Memphis, Tenn.) was Gallaudet's top runner to finish as he placed 16th overall with a time of 31:19.41. Sophomore Miguel Barrios (Riverside, Calif.) was 58th (39:10.76) followed by freshman Kai Christenberry (Birmingham, Ala.) in 61st place (40:49.15).
Junior John Isaacson (Clive, Iowa) and sophomore James Weichel (Bradenton, Fla.) were Gallaudet's other top five runners to earn team points. Isaacson was 64th (41:27.05) and one spot in front of Weichel (44:36.93).

- Sophomore Rodney Lebon (Charlotte, N.C.) was 68th (52:55.06)
- Freshman David Hernandez (Jacksonville, Texas) was 69th (55:48.25)
- Junior Yuan Tang was 71st (58:05.82)
- Four Bison made their collegiate debut
The Bison will head to Lancaster, Pa., to run in the Lancaster Bible College Homecoming Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. This will the first of three meets, including the NEAC championship for the Bison, in Lancaster. Although the course will undergo minor changes before the NEAC championship, the Bison will have the opportunity to see the basic layout of the championship course.
