Bison drop to Mary Washington
FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Sophomore pitcher Kirsten Rowell struck out
eight and allowed one walk and two hits, and sophomore DP Cathy
Hull had two doubles, a home run, and three runs scored as the
University of Mary Washington softball defeated Gallaudet
University, 15-0, on Wednesday at the Battleground in the first
round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament.
Hull doubled and scored on an error to plate the first run, and
then Sarah Axelson drove in Victoria Moody to give the Eagles a 2-0
lead after one inning. Hull followed with a solo home run in the
second, and then UMW scored six times in the third inning.
Katherine Davis, Melissa Bjorklund, and Hull each drove in runs
with doubles.
In the fourth, UMW scored six more times, with Nicole Foster and
Rowell each drove in runs with triples in the frame.
The Bison will end their season in a home doubleheader against
Wilson College on Saturday, April 21. The first pitch is set for
1:00 pm at the softball field.
