Bison bounce back with 9-8 win over Marywood, Keiser shuts out GU in second game

TITUSVILLE, Fla. - The Gallaudet University softball team made some adjustments Tuesday and came back to defeat Marywood University, 9-8, on Chain of Lakes - Field 4. The Bison were swept by the Pacers a day prior to begin the Spring Break trip.

Gallaudet turned around and were shutout 13-0 by NAIA school Keiser University from West Palm Beach, Fla.

The Bison (2-7) only managed one hit in the game while Keiser (10-4) scored runs in every inning to end the game after five innings.

Game 1: Gallaudet 9, Marywood 8
It was a high-scoring affair in the first game of the day for Gallaudet. The Bison jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first before Marywood answered back with three runs in the bottom half.

GU added another run in the second to take a 5-3 lead, which was short lived. The Pacers responded with four runs in the bottom of the second to take their first lead, 7-5. The Bison rallied to score four times in the fourth and take a 9-7 lead.

Marywood (2-2) added one more run in the eighth but couldn't tie or regain the lead the rest of the game.

Game 2: Keiser 13, Gallaudet 0 (F/5)
Keiser had 15 hits in four innings as six different batters had extra-base hits. The Seahawks broke open the game in the second inning with eight runs off starting pitcher Alyssa Barlow (Chandler, Ariz.).

Junior Jacklyn Zacarias (Montebello, Calif.) had Gallaudet's lone hit in the top of the second inning.

Barlow (1-3) allowed nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits, one walk and struck out one batter.

Keiser starting pitcher Paige Boyle (2-0) picked up the win as she allowed just one hit in five innings as she walked two and struck out one.

Gallaudet will wrap up its Spring Break trip tomorrow (Wednesday, March 14) with a game against Iowa Wesleyan University and Missouri Baptist University at 1:30 and 4 p.m., respectively.
