The 2011 season was the first for the Bison in the NEAC. The double digit win total was the first since the 2006 season. GU had five players earn all-conference honors for the South Division led by Nicole O'Malley who was picked to the first team. Four Bison were selected to the second team including Alicia Balzer, Michelin Barron, Jessica Buckwalter and Alicia Johnson.

Kolcun has worked at Gallaudet for six years where he has held the position of Intramurals and Summer Sport Camps Coordinator for the past four years. He has also helped with game management of Bison home games over the years. In 2008, he served as an assistant coach with the Gallaudet baseball program where he worked with the catchers.

“Our goal in 2012 is to win more than last year. We need to maintain our competitive edge on the field. The chemistry is the key for us to win and have a great season. The softball program has two exciting things happening this season including a new stadium and a new pitching coach."

Kolcun graduated from Gallaudet in 2002 with a degree in therapeutic recreation. Three years later, he received his master’s degree in leisure service administration. While at Gallaudet he played baseball for three years for the Bison. The Hazelton, Pa., native attended the Scranton State School for the Deaf in Scranton, Pa., for high school.

Kolcun currently resides in Washington, D.C.
