Wesley Defeats Gallaudet 86-41

Gallaudet suffered its third straight loss today 86-41 to Wesley College. In defeat, 36 of the Gallaudet points were scored by Nukeitra Hayes who had 10,  Amanda Krieger with 9, Brittainy Payne with 9, and Ursa Rewolinski with 8.

The game was never close as Wesley jumped to a quick lead at the start of the game, and Gallaudet was not able to close the gap.  As a team Gallaudet grabbed 11 offensive rebounds. But free throw shooting was costly, as Gallaudet made just 4 out of 16 free throws.

In addition to her 10 points, Hayes added 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Payne shot 4 for 10 and grabbed 9 rebounds. Both Krieger and Rewolinski shot 50% from the floor, going 3-6 and 4-8 respectively.

Final exams may have been on the Bison's minds today as classes ended yesterday, and next week is final exam week.  After the game, Gallaudet Head Coach Kevin Cook tried to explain what happened to his team today.  He said, "This was a tough ball game. Our entire team cannot pinpoint why we were so sluggish today.  This and Wesley's ability to shoot the 3 made for a very long day!"

Academics are a big part of Coach Cook's program and one of his biggest goals is attaining a high team grade point average and doing well in the classroom.  Due to finals next week, Gallaudet will not play again until December 15 when they travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to play Johnson Bible College.  Coach Cook looks for his team to do very well on finals next week.  "We turn our focus to final exams next week." Then, "We will gear up for Johnson Bible on the 15th!"

With the loss, Gallaudet goes to 3-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Capital Athletic Conference.  Wesley is 2-5 (1-0).
