Important announcement about Gallaudet basketball doubleheader against Hood at Fort Detrick's Odom Fitness Center

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Fans planning to attend Gallaudet University's basketball doubleheader against Hood at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Md., on Tuesday, February 9, will need to follow the rules below since the games are being played at the military base.

There is no charge for admission or parking. However, since this year's contests will be held on a military installation, all fans, parents, coaches, student-athletes, administrators and other athletic department personnel must adhere to some important policies and procedures to ensure everyone's safety while on Ft. Detrick's property.

ID CHECK AND VEHICLE INSPECTION INFORMATION

  • Please use the "non-decal lane" upon your arrival.

  • Stop your vehicle at the first stop sign until motioned forward by one of the guards. Hood College has arranged for an interpreter to be present at the front gate to help with the ID check and vehicle inspection.

  • You will be asked where you are going and why you are entering the post. Please mention that you are headed to the Odom Fitness Center for the Hood College basketball game.

  • All passengers in each vehicle MUST possess appropriate identification. You must bring a government-issued ID, such as a driver's license, passport or birth certificate. These are the ONLY acceptable forms of identification for entry onto the post - a school ID is NOT acceptable. Note: Any children under the age of 18 accompanied by an adult do not need to show identification.
  • All vehicles must undergo a full inspection including the passenger area and trunk before access is granted onto the post. Please ensure that you remove any firearms or other weapons, including knives, illegal substances or hazardous materials from your vehicle.
  • All passengers must exit the vehicle and all doors, including the trunk and glove compartment, must be opened. Once the vehicle inspection is complete, all IDs will be returned and the driver will receive a temporary parking pass to be displayed in the windshield. This process generally takes less than two minutes, but fans are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for this inspection. Please try and arrive a half-hour before the scheduled game you are planning to attend.
