Bison women's basketball nets their third straight win
WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team defeated Morrisville State College, 62-37, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game at the Field House on Saturday afternoon. The win is the third in a row for the Bison, their longest winning streak of the season.
Gallaudet (5-15, 3-10 NEAC South) went on a 9-0 tear to start the game and led Morrisville 33-16 going into halftime. The Bison scored six in the first two minutes of the second half, to up their advantage 39-16 lead. The Bison kept a double-digit lead over the Mustangs (1-19, 1-11 NEAC North) for the entire second half.
Sophomore guard Alexa Justus (Forks, Wash.) recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Sophomore guard Claire Tucker (Middletown, Md.) scored 13 points, four rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Senior forward Lindsay Stergio (Montville, Conn.) racked up 13 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Sophomore forward Elena Ciccarelli (Whitesboro, N.Y.) matched Justus' 11 rebounds with seven points, two assists and two steals.
Jennel Paul led the Mustangs with 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Gallaudet will take on conference foe Penn St.-Harrisburg (13-6, 9-3 NEAC South) at home on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m.
