BELLEVUE, Wash. – Gallaudet University senior guard Zamica Gage (Washington, D.C.) was named the Division III Women's Basketball HERO of the Week as announced Tuesday by HERO Sports after her exceptional performance against Oberlin College on Nov. 28.
Gage was one of 10 nominees and she won the fan poll with 2,020 votes to edge out Franciscan University's Iliana Gonzales (1,890 votes) for the honor. Gage accumulated nearly half of the 4,261 votes that were cast.
Gage scored a career-high 35 points in a 74-60 loss to Oberlin. She added nine rebounds, seven steals and three assists as she nearly had a triple-double. Gonzales scored 33 points, made seven steals and two assists against Grove City College.
Gage and Gonzales were neck-and-neck throughout the voting process before Gage made a surge to claim the HERO of the Week honor.
