ABINGTON, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team picked up its second North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win here Tuesday as the visiting Bison handed Penn St.-Abington its first loss of the season, 61-56.
Gallaudet (3-4, 2-1 NEAC) led for the majority of the contest as it led 15-5 after the first quarter and took a 28-21 lead into halftime. The Bison offense continued to roll in the second half as it outscored the Nittany Lions (5-1, 1-1 NEAC) in the third quarter, 14-13, and netted 19 additional points in the fourth.
Senior guard Danielle Warren (San Jose, Calif.) led the Bison attack with 15 points as she made two 3-pointers and grabbed four rebounds. Senior Zamica Gage (Washington, D.C.) added 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. Senior forward Danielle Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) chipped in eight points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and made two blocks in the win.
Penn St.-Abington was led offensively by Brittany Keyes' 19-point performance.
- Sophomores Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.) and Kelsy Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) scored seven points each off the bench
- Gallaudet scored 18 points off 21 turnovers made by the Nittany Lions
- The Bison bench scored 16 points
- GU held a 16-12 edge in the paint
Gallaudet will travel to Bryn Athyn College (3-4, 1-1 NEAC) on Thursday for an 8 p.m. conference game.
