WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women’s basketball program has officially released its schedule for the 2016-2017 season. The Bison went 15-12 overall last season, 13-7 in conference play and posted a winning record of 9-6 at the Field House.
GU will open the season with five straight away games, the first two in New York against non-conference opponents Union (N.Y.) College (Nov. 25) and Elmira College (Nov. 27). The Bison will begin North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play with a week of action against Bryn Athyn College (Nov. 29), Lancaster Bible College (Dec. 2) and Penn St.-Berks (Dec. 3) before heading home. The Bison home opener will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, against Bryn Athyn at 5 p.m.
The Bison will be host to two doubleheader weekends in January, the first opening up the month on Jan. 7-8 with a NEAC game against Penn College and wrapping up with St. Elizabeth. The Bison will then play again at home against Penn St.-Abington (Jan. 10) before wrapping up the season series with Penn College and St. Elizabeth the following weekend. The Bison will welcome defending NEAC champions SUNY Poly on Saturday, Jan. 21, and finish the weekend with a matchup against SUNY Cobleskill (Jan. 22). GU hits the road the following weekend for two conference games in New York.
February will begin on the road with a game against Penn St.-Abington before the Bison come home to play four straight home games. The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Game will be on Saturday, Feb. 11, against Wells College. Senior Day will take place the following day on Sunday, Feb. 12, against Keuka College. The Bison finish off the regular-season slate with away games at Randolph-Macon College against Wilson College.
The NEAC Tournament begins the following week and runs from Feb. 21-26.
