Mustangs run wild on Bison, 10-0

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Gallaudet University suffered its third shutout of the season as Stevenson University handed the Bison a 10-0 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) loss on Saturday afternoon.
Gallaudet (4-8-1, 0-5 CAC) drops its fifth conference game of the season as the Bison only got off seven shots against Stevenson (8-3-1, 3-1 CAC). The loss matches the worse of the season for GU, who also lost 10-0 to Hood College on September 6. The Bison have been outscored 44-3 in CAC games this season.
Stevenson scored all its goals in the first 44 minutes as the Mustangs led 10-0 at the half. Stevenson had eight different goal scorers as Samantha Novy (one assist) and Heather Redding (one assist) led the way with two goals apiece. The Mustangs assisted on eight of the 10 goals. Stevenson also scored on a penalty kick in the 41st minute.
The Bison had a chance to score in the first half as freshman Shaquana McDonough (Pembroke, Mass.) placed a shot on goal but Mustang goalie Brittany Ross made the save. McDonough led all Bison with six shots in the loss. Brittany Jones (Greensboro, N.C.) had the other shot for the Buff and Blue.
Stevenson outshot Gallaudet 31-3 in the first half while the Bison held a 4-3 edge in the second half. Stevenson held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior goalie Casey McCullough (Oceanside, Calif.) got the start today and made eight saves in 90 minutes of action.
There is no rest for the Bison who turn around to host Washington Adventist University tomorrow (Sunday, October 11) at 5 p.m.
