Morgan nets first collegiate goal to lead Bison

TAKOMA PARK, Md. - Freshman Maddie Morgan scored her first-ever women's soccer collegiate goal for Gallaudet University in the 69th minute of Friday afternoon's road game against Washington Adventist University (formerly known as Columbia Union College). Morgan paced all Bison with four shots on goal, seven shots overall, but it wasn't enough as WAU won 4-1.
Gallaudet (0-1) allowed three first half goals to Washington Adventist (1-3) as Gina Urban netted two of the three goals to lead the Pioneers into halftime up 3-0.
GU and WAU played a pretty balanced second half as each team scored one goal. The Bison had eight shots in both halves against the Pioneers. WAU outshot GU 28-16. The two teams were even on corner kicks with three apiece.
Bison goalie Kara Gulvas (0-1) made nine saves her collegiate debut as Gallaudet ended the day with 11 saves. WAU goalie Kayla Harrison (1-0) recorded the win as she stopped five Bison shots.
Gallaudet will next be in action on Sunday, September 6, in Frederick, Md., to face Hood College at 1 p.m. This is the start of the Capital Athletic Conference schedule for the Bison.
