Wesley ends Gallaudet's goal scoring streak

DOVER, Del. - For the first time in nearly a month the Gallaudet University women's soccer team failed to score a goal in a game. Wesley College kept the Bison off the scoreboard in a 5-0 shutout under the lights Thursday evening in Capital Athletic Conference action.
Gallaudet (3-6-1, 0-3 CAC) last was shut out in the second game of the season where the Bison lost to Hood College, 10-0, on September 6. Ironically, that was the last CAC road game for the Bison as well.
Wesley (4-5, 1-3 CAC) netted two quick goals off the foot of Sammi Nevin, in the first 10 minutes, and never looked back. The Wolverines sneaked another goal in with a minute to go before halftime as Wesley led 3-0 at the break.
In the second half, Wesley netted two goals to place the game out of reach from the Bison. Gallaudet only had one shot in the second half and five for the entire game. That is the second lowest shot total for the Buff and Blue. GU only had two shots against Hood.
Freshman goalie Kara Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) continues to build on her solid season in net for the Bison as she made a new career-high 23 saves. The Wolverines ripped off 44 shots in the game, 25 in the second half.
Gallaudet will next host CAC foe St. Mary's (Md.) College on Monday, October 5, at 7 p.m. under the lights at Hotchkiss Field.
