Bison no match for Randolph College
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Gallaudet University surrendered four unanswered goals to begin Sunday's non-conference women's soccer game against Randolph College and lost 4-1 on the road.
Abigal Bullins scored the game's first goal, 25 minutes in, and capped off her two-goal performance with Randolph's fourth goal in the 68th minute as the WildCats led 4-0. Gallaudet (0-2) got on the scoreboard five minutes later when senior midfidler Maddie Morgan (Hockessin, Del.) assisted freshman Sofia Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) on her first collegiate goal. Lindevall received the cross from Morgan and used her right foot to beat Randolph goalie Hunter Gibson (no saves).
Senior goalie Kara Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) had a busy day in net as she made 16 saves as she faced 20 shots on goal. Randolph outshot Gallaudet 15-0 in the first half and 17-3 in the second half, 32-3 in the game. Junior midfielder Monique Balcarcel (Lansing, Mich.) took two shots for the Bison.
The WildCats (2-0) led by two at halftime and took a 3-0 lead 19 minutes into the second half when Marielle Randon scored an unassisted goal. Ashley Stevens scored Randolph's second goal in the 35th minute before the half.
GU will look to end its skid on the road in the state of Virginia on Tuesday, Sept. 4, when the Bison play Mary Baldwin College at 4 p.m. in a non-conference game.
