Gallaudet's Kara Gulvas named to the All-NEAC third team

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2013 Women's Soccer All-Conference selections and Gallaudet University senior goalkeeper Kara Gulvas (Crown Point, Ind.) was named to the third team.

Gulvas started in 15 games as goalkeeper and saw action in three other games as a midfielder. She was in the goal for 1,150 minutes this season and recorded 160 saves with a save percentage of .731 and also had one shutout. Gulvas is currently ranked 15th in the NCAA Division III women's soccer records for saves per game and 10th for total saves. Gulvas also earned all-conference honors in 2010 when she was named to the All-NEAC second team.

Gulvas played four years for the Bison as a standout in the net. In four seasons, she played in 69 games, accumulated 5,736 minutes played, saved 743 shots and registered nine shutouts. Gulvas closed out the season as the NEAC leader in saves with 160. Last season, she led Division III in saves with 226 saves.

Freshman midfielder Dana Sarcinello of Penn St.-Berks took home Player and Rookie of the Year awards after leading the Nittany Lions to an 11-0 conference record with 18 goals and eight assists. Penn St.-Berks head coach Adrian Munteanu received Coach of the Year honors. Penn St.-Abington senior goalkeeper Alyssa Kaye was named Goalkeeper of the Year after leading her team to a 10-1 conference record where she made 81 saves with a save percentage of .890.

GU women's soccer concluded its season with a record of 2-14-2 and 1-9-1 in NEAC play.
